Professor Hind Al-Abadleh wins 2022 Gilead Award for Excellence in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

The Gilead award is presented to chemists as a mark of distinction and recognition for excellence in their work in equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Hind Al-Abadleh is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University, and a member of the MS2Discovery Institute. 

Professor Al-Abadleh has an exceptional record aimed at transformative organizational change by leading EDI initiatives that (a) promote the recruitment, retention, advancement and recognition of under-represented groups in chemistry and professional groups, (b) guide the educational and professional development of high school and university students, and early career researchers above and beyond the typical training in a research lab or a chemistry classroom, and (c) mobilize knowledge from environmental science to the media, school boards, youth and senior citizen groups from different ethnic and religious backgrounds in English and Arabic.
