Yaode Sui Receives MS2Discovery Student Award

Yaode Sui is a student of the MS2Discovery Interdisciplinary Research Institute.  His research interests include Deep Learning, Option Pricing, Stochastic Analysis and Simulation Method.  He is a PhD candidate in the Department of Mathematics at Wilfrid Laurier University under the supervision of Professors Yongzeng (George) Lai and Guiseppe (Joe) Campolieti.  Yaode completed his Masters of Science from WLU and previously graduated from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Bachelor of Mathematics & Bachelor of Economics.

Sui is the recipient of a MS2Discovery Research and Travel Grant Award that supported his travel to the Canadian Mathematics Society Winter Meeting, December 6-9th, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario.  He was involved in presenting research results on "Asset Price Prediction by CNN+LSTM" which aims using new Neural Networks to predict the stock price and derivative price.  Sui wrote in his report "I learned a lot since the work was focused on asset price prediction using some deep learning based techniques.  Various asset prices from different industries in both developed and emerging markets are selected to test the algorithms.  This is a new method which is potential.  What's more, the work of Dr. Christoph Frei from University of Alberta also attracts me.  Their model features the fundamental tradeoff between welfare gains from lower transaction costs and costs of setting up the digital technology and trust concerns when using digital currencies.  In this meeting, I learned a lot and got in touch with lots of new idea in my research area".
