Open Letter to UN Secretary General RE: Food Systems Summit

On September 10th, 2021, an Open Letter was submitted to the United Nations' Secretary General regarding the UN Food Systems Summit by Olivier De Schutter (UN Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights, Co-chair of IPES-Food), Michael Fakhri (UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food), Thanawat Tiensin (Chair, Committee on World Food Security), and Martin Cole (Chair, High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition).

The letter, which has received strong support across many food systems and human rights groups, conveys the authors' "strongest concerns regarding the threat [the Food Systems Summit] poses to the role of science and knowledge in food system decision-making," and highlights the potential erasure and replacement of existing networks and institutions.

You can read the Open Letter on the IPES-Food website
