Jack Imhof continues lecture series with “The Challenges with Urbanization and Protection of Water and Aquatic Environments”

Jan. 22, 2026

Continuing our ongoing public lecture series with the Brant Land Trust, Jack Imhof spoke about the impacts of urbanization on aquatic environments, with examples such as water quality, water quantity, channel health, erosion, flooding, and fish communities, as well as the broader question of how should we manage our water resources going forward.

Jack has more than 50 years of experience in river and watershed restoration, with previous roles at the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Trout Unlimited Canada. He retired in 2017 as the National Biologist and Director of Conservation Ecology for Trout Unlimited Canada.

This lecture was the second lecture in the Examining Our Relationship with and Responsibilities to the Land public lecture series, presented by the Brant Land Trust in collaboration with the Laurier Institute for Water Science. The opening lecture in the series featured Laurier Professor Emeritus Gary Warrick, with his talk: The Grand River as an Indigenous Landscape.
