Alison Mountz Delivers Inaugural Lecture at Carleton

Alison Mountz recently delivered the inaugural lecture for a new annual event on borders and migration within the Faculty of Public Affairs Research Series at Carleton University.

Dr. Mountz, Canada Research Chair in Global Migration and Professor in Laurier's Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, presented "Canada as Safe Haven?", a lecture focusing on her research with two distinct groups of American war resisters - those who sought refuge in Canada during the Vietnam War and, later, during the Gulf War/War on Terror - whose experiences as asylum claimants in Canada were vastly different.
