FLEdGE

FLEdGE (Food: Locally Embedded, Globally Engaged) is a research and knowledge sharing partnership that began in 2015. It is funded through a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Partnership Grant.

Through research with communities, practitioners and policy-makers, the partnership strives to create transformative, sustainable food systems that are socially just, support local economies, are ecologically regenerative and that foster citizen engagement. The partnership explores territorial integration, scaling-up opportunities, innovative governance, agroecology and metrics. The partnership includes seven regional nodes across Canada and three international working groups.

This work is guided by six Good Food Principles focused on farmer livelihoods, food access, Indigenous foodways, ecological resilience, food policy and food connections.
