The Community Mental Health Research Group conducts solutions-focused research and program evaluations with the goal of generating evidence to improve health and well-being, and increase accessibility of community-based healthcare and social services for vulnerable populations at risk of or experiencing mental health issues. We conduct research on health inequities and the Ontario public’s understanding of social determinants of health (SDOH), with the goal of increasing public awareness and political will to act on the SDOH in the province. Through integrated knowledge translation and community-based research approaches, we work collaboratively with decision-makers, community partners and persons with lived experience to address knowledge needs, inform program development and improvement, and support policy change in the area of mental health services and supports.
