Tomomi Kawabata
Tomomi is a Master’s student in Sustainability Management at the University of Waterloo. She aspires to enhance sustainability of communities, and is concerned with stakeholder engagement and interdisciplinary approaches for sustainability initiatives. Her research interests include energy conservation, renewable energy, corporate sustainability, and stakeholder engagement. She is currently conducting research in collaboration with VERiS and SWR, and her master’s thesis focuses on energy sustainability and behavioural changes in evolv1 – Canada’s first green office building.
She graduated from Mount Allison University with a major in International Relations, and minors in Biology and Anthropology. She became interested in environment and sustainability while working as a consultant and a business developer in the energy sector in Japan. She has developed both private and public projects in areas of energy saving, community energy, electricity retailing and renewable energy development.
